Are you wanting to have a career in fashion – but not sure which way to go? We can help to narrow down your search by knowing what it is you are talented at. You don’t want your talents to go to waste. Instead you need to use them in order make a living for yourself.

If you are able to draw and cut patterns to help prepare garments or can sketch garments and work the trimmings and fabric than you may want to be a fashion designer. You will also need an eye for fashion trends to make this work.

Do you prefer to draw designs and not have to work with fabrics? If you can use your talents in the graphic design category than you might just be good as a fashion illustrator. Through this career you don’t have to worry about creating original designs.

Do you think you have the ‘eye’? If you are able to tell what fabrics look great and what pattern is going to be the next big thing then you might want to be a fashion buyer. With this career you will be able to predict the newest in industry trends and turn them into schemes that will improve the business.

If you are able to carefully follow garment patters and make an outfit come to life they you could be a pattern maker. For this career you will need expert visualization skills and will need to understand the makeup of fabrics. That way you will automatically know which fabric will work with specific designs.
